Farm Day at Ashtabula Plantation

Pendleton Historic Foundation Presents Farm Day at Ashtabula Plantation

Pendleton SC, March 6, 2014:

The Pendleton Historic Foundation invites the whole family to Farm Day at Ashtabula on March 29 from 9am – 3pm.  This one-day festival celebrates the rich heritage of agriculture in the Upstate.   Our Farm Day “ag-venture” showcases antique equipment such as old tractors, cotton gins, and hit-and-miss engines to demonstrate the equipment of yesterday and the historical progression of farming.

Visitors will enjoy demonstrations of old-time crafts such as blacksmithing, quilting, candle making, manual cotton seed pulling, weaving on a cricket loom, and meeting Clarabelle the automated milking cow, which is brought to you by our friends at the Bart Garrison Agricultural Museum of South Carolina. This family event also features a “Kiddie Korral” with activities just for children.   Little farm hands will enjoy sack racing, canning and coloring contests, corn husking and grinding, apple pudding making, and woodworking demonstrations.

When you’re feeling a hankering for vittles, fill your tank with BBQ from the Smokin’ Pig or enjoy hotdogs from WOW DAWGS.   BBQ plates will range in price from $6 to $8, and hotdog plates - two 100% Angus beef hotdogs, drink and chips for $6 OR one ½ lb. 100% Angus hotdog with drink and chips for $8.

Whether you’re a city mouse or a country mouse, Farm Day will fill your family’s day with fun.  Admission is $10 per car or minivan and $25 for buses with up to 10 passengers.  Ashtabula house tours will be available for a reduced price of $3 per person.
