Hear the poetry, speeches, essays, and stories of Black America read by today’s leaders. Leading members of Anderson’s African American community will perform excerpts of poetry by Langston Hughes, Tupac Shakur, and Paul Laurence Dunbar; speeches by Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and Barack Obama; an excerpt of Incidents of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs, and an essay by Maya Angelou.

Refreshments and a reception to follow.
