1959 Pink Thunderbird is the presentation of the two one acts, Laundry & Bourbon and Lone Star. Set in the early 70’s, in Maynard, Texas. The plays revolve around Roy Caulder, who has spent the two years since returning from service in Vietnam trying to reclaim his place in a town that has changed as much as it has remained the the same, and his wife Elizabeth, who is in love with Roy as he is, but fears his most attractive feature—his wildness—will tear them apart. Laundry & Bourbon finds Elizabeth and her best friend Hattie whiling away the time folding laundry, watching TV, sipping bourbon and Coke, and gossiping about the many open secrets which are so much a part of small-town life, when Amy Lee Fullernoy, Hattie’s nemesis concocts an excuse to come visit with some gossip of her own. In Lone Star, Roy and his brother Ray drink, tell stories and relive memories in the cluttered backyard of the only bar in town, just like they do every night. But tonight, , friend of Ray but despised by Roy, Cletis Fullernoy, intrudes and sets in motion events that affect Roy, and his relationship with Ray, in a profound way. Both these slices of life swing wildly from comic to tragic and back again.
